That commission has no say in which tool comes out ahead in a comparison. We set out how we assess garden tools on a separate page, and the same criteria apply to a £6 hand trowel and an £80 forged spade: what the steel is, how the handle is put together, and who the tool actually suits. A cheaper option that does the job well gets said so, commission or not.

Retailers change their prices more often than we update a page, so the figure you see when you click through may not match what we last saw. That's why we send you to the retailer's own listing rather than quoting a price here and hoping it holds. We test and research carefully, but a review is one person's judgement of a tool at a particular time, and we can still get something wrong.
